Education
Sonja Landweer was born in 1933 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
She is mainly self-taught, besides a year as a student at the Institute
of Applied Arts (Rietveld Academy) and some lessons in glazing by
Emmy van Deventer.

Career
In 1964-1965 she worked at the Arabia-factory in Finland. and in
1965-1966 at the Kilkenny Design Workshops in Ireland. From that
date onwards she lives and works in Ireland.

Production
Her work consists of ceramic pots and sculptures, but also (of a
more recent date) textiles, jewelry and bronzes. In 1963 she developed
her famous 'batik-technique' for ceramics.
