Education
Elisabeth Gerst was born in 1907 in Watergraafsmeer (Amsterdam, The Netherlands). She's mainly self-taught, apart from some lessons in the art of glazing from Emmy van Deventer and some lessons at the 'Vrije Academie' in The Hague.

Career
In 1950 she moved to The Hague where she started making ceramics in 1959.

Production
Her work consists of figurines and pots and is often humorous in nature.
