Education
Marianna Franken was born in 1928 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. In 1946 she left for the USA, were she helped in the pottery of her aunt Jacomena Maybeck in her spare time. She was mostly self-taught, besides a year as guest-student at the Rietveld Academy.

Career
Marianna Franken had her own studio in Amsterdam from 1958-1960. After that in Hoogland and later in Voorthuizen. In 1964 she worked in England, on a scholarship of the Farnham School of Art. She now lives and works in Blaricum.

Production
In the beginning Marianna Franken made thrown pots in earthy colors, in England mostly small bowls and later on back in Holland also compositions and figurines.
Her work is inspired by nature.
